The weather continues to be very warm, but the children are coping well in school.

Thanks to all the parents/ carers for all their support during the heatwave- numerous ice-pops have been consumed in school and we are able to continue with business as usual!

Well done children!

Next week your child officially moves up to their new class. We will be welcoming new pupils to Abbeys and saying goodbye to a few as well. It is always a strange time of year for us. I feel sad to see children moving on to secondary school, but secure in the knowledge that our curriculum has prepared them academically and socially for life beyond Abbeys. Some children are moving house over the summer, and we wish these children the very best of luck in their new schools.

During Roll-Over Week, your child will get to know their new teacher and adults in their new area, focus on the school values and classroom routines. They will meet their new classmates and this will help them overcome any anxiety that they may have about the change.

I am excited to see the children in their new classes and know they will be settled after the first few days in school. When talking about moving up with children, it is important not to hype it up too much. Counting down the days until moving class can cause anxiety. If you talk about it too much as parents/ carers, your child may become anxious. I think it is OK to tell children that we don't have all the answers, and we will have to wait and see. One thing for sure is that all the teachers at Abbeys are dedicated, kind and approachable. If your child needs help, they will go out of their way to support them.

New from September 2026. Free school meals are expanding to every child in a household that receives Universal Credit.

If you are already registered on our checking system and are in receipt of universal credit then you should receive a notification confirming your eligibility. If you think you should be entitled to these meals and you have not received a confirmation please contact the school office.

A huge thank you to the team, the PTA and DJ Dylan for a wonderful year 6 leavers prom!

The children looked amazing! What a way to end their time at Abbeys!

Here are some photos of pirate day in Foundation. The children went on a treasure hunt, sang sea shanties, scrubbed the decks and made pirate flags.

Whitby Maths Class have enjoyed their statistics unit learning about block diagrams, pictograms and tally charts.

They worked as a class to make their own block diagram of their favourite fruits! Here is the result...

In Marham this half term, the children have been learning about magnets. They used what they have learnt to create magnetic games.

In Marham maths this week the children have been applying their maths knowledge to taskmaster problems.

Today they competed to build the tallest tower applying their knowledge of shape and height. Points were given for the tallest tower, the best teamwork and the most creativity - even the adults joined in!

Missenden have enjoyed the opportunity to sew designs for their coin purses using running stitch, backstitch, buttons and beads.

They did really well.

The children in Belmont have been sewing their newly designed Abbeys emblems! The did really well! Great designs.

HOMEWORK

We are finding that more and more children are not completing their homework, returning their homework books or reading at home. There are a large group of children with additional needs who are not attempting homework at all and we need to change this. We need parents/ carers to support their children more to reach the expected standard- they will do this if they complete homework and classwork.

We created a poster with handy tips for you and your child. It explains how you can help.

Copies are available in the Office.

Ms Burton's art group have been using Epoxy resin to create solid decorative shapes. They are really cool!

A huge shout-out to Ehime!

Watching you step onto the stage with so much confidence and grace this past weekend filled my heart with pride. Your theatre performance was nothing short of phenomenal, and you embraced every moment with courage, enthusiasm, and a beautiful smile.

Ehime, keep believing in yourself, keep embracing new challenges, and keep shining your light. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll accomplish. We are so incredibly proud of you! Love Mum and Dad.

Well done Ehime! What an achievement.

He learnt how to help save someone struggling in water and how to put someone into the recovery position and do chest compressions.

Two final muggings of the year! Miss Dewberry mugged Mrs Vicarage last week for all the hard work and effort she has put in with the Hive children this year. Always doing everything with a smile. She always goes above and beyond for them!

Then Mrs Vicarage mugged Miss Christophi for all the progress she has made with the children she supports this year. They are really lucky to have her!
