What a busy fortnight we have had and an amazing Mother's Day event in school as well. It was lovely to see so many Mummys, Aunties and Nannys coming in. Thanks to everyone that was able to come. I realise how difficult it can be with work and other commitments, as always we appreciate your support.

Last week, a few members of the School Council were able to visit Milton Keynes Council Chambers. It was fascinating, the children learnt a lot and so did I. The children became Prime Minister for the day and passed new laws [although some of them were a bit odd], they also got to ask questions to Councillor Donna Fuller.
As usual the pupils were a credit to the school and incredibly well-behaved. They really enjoyed speaking in the microphones, voting and giving their opinions! We were only the second MK School to visit the Chambers so we were incredibly lucky to have this experience- thanks to Mrs Chambers for arranging the visit.

Asiyah (Westminster) has become a member of a table tennis club. She only started 3 weeks ago but she is progressing really well. She is absolutely loving her sessions. Well done Asiyah!
Well done and thank you to Harry Moore who has been busy collecting items of the chocolate variety for my secret mission on the 31st March. He has achieved a random act of kindness! Something we value at Abbeys. I will look after them safely in my office! Trust me!

A huge shout-out to Evelyn and Phineas. Who are both doing so well with their swimming lessons.
Phineas is half-way through stage 1 while Evelyn passed stage 6!
Coincidently, this happened on the 16th of March on the day that Phineas turned 6.
6 years of swimming for Evelyn! What an achievement!

Ameera in year 5 is a fantastic role model for others. She participated in a bake sale at her mosque last weekend to raise money for Turkey and Syria-following the terrible earthquakes there a few weeks ago. Ameera baked a lemon cake and chocolate brownies for the sale. In total, they raised a whopping £2000 for the charity-what an amazing achievement Ameera! Well done.

Congratulations to Miss Craig!
Miss Craig has committed crimes of awesomeness! She is kind, flexible and dedicated, she has a can do attitude- Miss Harrison mugged her for simply being amazing!
|
Miss Craig went on to mug Mrs Louis White- my partner in crime. Since starting with us in September, she has adapted to the Abbeys ways. She is always helpful and kind! Thanks to you both! Abbeys pupils are lucky to have you!

School Dinners
There is a new dinner menu from Dolce and we have a couple of exciting theme days we want to make you aware of!
Please don't forget to order. Ordering on the day is an excellent feature of our lunch provider but it is the parent's responsibility to order.

This weekend MK Lightning play the Telford Tigers! Many of our families are attending. The pupils enjoyed an introduction to ice hockey this week and Kaison was lucky enough to try on all the hockey gear!
Have fun everyone that is going- I cannot wait to hear all about it on Monday! Don't forget to upload photos to our Facebook page.

LUNCH CLUB
We have opened a quiet area at lunchtimes for pupils that may struggle to socialise and interact outside. There are a variety of quieter activities to do inside and adults to support social interaction and communication. Pupils are not forced to attend, but they are given the option and this supports self-regulation.
The club is run by our two new learning mentors Mrs Bromfield and Mrs Butterfield.

Year 5/6 took on Stanton in our first ever dodge ball competition and they smashed it! Congratulations to Viren, Sonny, Freya, Emily, Cindy, Jeremy, Artem, Matilda, Charlotte and Emeric, who worked well as a team against a very competitive Stanton.
Congratulations to Mr Godfrey as well- his first win at Abbeys. It was great for me to be there to enjoy it too! Proud headteacher moment! Even if I did keep getting hit by the balls!

EASTER FUN
Please don't forget our Easter Bonnet and decorated egg competitions! Entries need to be in school for judging by Friday 31st March!
We also have a few extra fun activities planned for that day!

AIM, ASPIRE, ACHIEVE
Our three houses are named after our school motto and each one has a colour. Miss Proctor is head of Aspire (yellow) house. Miss Henry is head of Achieve (green) house and Mr Godfrey is head of Aim (blue) house.
All children are allocated a house alongside their siblings. Throughout the year we will have numerous house events, sporting, creative and team building.
On Monday all children need to wear their house colour [if possible] as we are having our first team building competition!

Please remember my door is always open and I am happy to discuss any concerns you may have. It is important that parents/ carers do not wait to share their thoughts and worries, it is better to get these things solved quickly and nip them in the bud!
A problem shared is a problem halved!
