We are on the downward slope to the Summer holidays and we are cramming so much in it is an unbelievably busy time!

The children are coming to the end of the curriculum for the year but are still working hard and are focused in lessons- right until the last week of term. Every day is important and attendance is just as crucial at the end of the school year as it is at any other time.

Thanks so much to everyone that came along to the Summer Fair. it was the first Summer Fair in at least 8 years and we had a fabulous time!

We raised £1200 for the school and this money will be put towards reading books and playtime equipment.

Congratulations to those that won raffle prizes, hampers and teddies! We will definitely be making this into an annual event. It was fantastic to see Parents running stalls and displaying their talents.

Thanks so much to Mrs Lisanti and Mr Elliott- who both work tirelessly behind the scenes to make these things happen for our pupils. And also to Karen Doyle and Claire Howell- we may have the smallest PTA in Milton Keynes but you are the best! And lastly thanks to all the school staff in particular Mr Godfrey [who was soaked], Mrs Shore and Miss Henry who made mountains of candy floss and to all the school staff, who stayed on a Friday after-school after a really busy week- to have fun with our families.

Last week 110 children and many parents/ carers and staff went to Woburn Safari park as part of their project 'In the Jungle'.

They had an amazing time. In fact, I was told that 'it was the best day ever!'

All the animals came out to say hi, including tigers, lions, giraffes, rhinos, zebras and even the meerkats.

Another school commented on the fabulous behaviour of Abbeys' pupils! Considering this was the first school trip for almost of our pupils, they all coped amazingly well!

Congratulations to Abir who passed his Karate exams and got his 5th belt- Intermediate green belt.
Your parents are proud of you Abir and we are too.

Also a huge congratulations to Zidaan! He has been scouted by Northampton football club. He will be starting a 6 week trial in September and hopefully will be able to stay on!  Remember us when you are famous Zidaan!

There have been so many staff muggings over the last couple of weeks.

Last week it was the incredible Jo Cahill who was mugged. Jo is an absolute credit to this school, she works so hard and always goes above and beyond for the children in her class.

Congratulations Jo, this is very much deserved, I hope you enjoyed your treats.

Our lovely Mr Elliott was then mugged by Miss Cahill.

You have been recognised  for all the hard work you have put in to developing the Early Years area. You have also gone above and beyond with all your help and support.

Thank you, Mr Elliott!

Then it was Miss Currie's turn!

Miss Currie you have been mugged for your hard work and for being such a supportive colleague but most of all bringing our Forest School area back to life!! Your creative ideas saw children in all year groups excited to learn through play and exploration.

You are lovely and will make a fabulous teacher in September!

Our new and improved Abbeys Sports Day and Picnic this year is on Wednesday 19th July from 9.30am, for this day ONLY the gates around the school will not be open before or after school.  All children need to come to the temporary reception to be dropped off at 8.50am and collected from here.

Children need to come to school wearing their house colour, shorts and trainers, if you are unsure which house they are in, it will be in the front of their planner or you can ask their class teacher. Please ensure that they bring their water bottle. There will be no hot lunches on this day, you can order a packed lunch for your child via School Grid or they can bring their own packed lunch.

Parents/Carers please bring a picnic lunch with you as after the sports events it will end with a picnic lunch with the children.  There will also be a coffee van onsite.

If you would like to take your child/children home after the picnic, the earliest they can leave is 1.30pm after their teacher has taken the afternoon register or they can stay until 3.15pm.

We look forward to seeing you all on the 19th!

Wrap around club and changes for next year

From September all pupils will go straight into class at 8.35am- as soon as the gates are opened. They will have 10 minutes to complete any morning work before the register will be taken at 8.45am.

Breakfast club will be continuing from September and will be opening at 7.45am and ending at 8.30am- when children will go to class with their peers. There is a £2.00 charge for this. This can be booked on Parentpay.

From September, we will be offering Wrap around care until 6pm. Ideally this will be booked well in advance but we can book individuals in on the day in an emergency.

We will be charging £6.50 until 5pm- which includes a drink/ snack and activities.

We will be charging £9.00 until 6pm- which includes a small tea- crumpets/ bagels and activities.

We have worked hard to ensure these costs are kept low for our pupils and their families and they are considerably cheaper than some other local schools/ provisions.

Wrap around care can also be booked on Parentpay.
