This term has flown by, Summer seems like a distant memory and the last few weeks have been all about CHRISTMAS! Such a lovely time in school. The children have been very excited and all of our performances, our carol concert and nativities  went off without a hitch! Thanks to all those that attended, we hope you enjoyed yourselves! A huge thank you to all the teachers and school staff for supporting with these fantastic events. Team work makes the dream work!

Well done to our youngest children in Foundation for their first full term in school and their fabulous nativity, it always brings a tear to my eye, to see how far they have come in just a few weeks.

Thanks to everyone that joined us for the carol concert at St Mary's church last week. It was a beautiful service. A huge thank you to Miss Proctor and the choir for their efforts in putting this together.

This week we've had wonderful nativities from Foundation Stage and from KS1- what confident singers, actors and narrators we have in school. Well done children. I enjoyed watching you all!

DINNER IS SERVED!

On Wednesday, the whole school enjoyed Christmas dinner!

Even the staff!

Blue house are currently leading in our house competitions. This event involved a lot of hot air! Well done to everyone who took part, it was great fun!

The School Council enjoyed an orchestral performance at Daisychain last week. They sang carols and learnt about a wide range of brass instruments. They also had a go at playing the trombone!

Everyone enjoyed wearing Christmas jumpers last week!

Here are a few of my favourites!

Our jumper exchange was really popular. Thanks to all those that donated.

We will be collecting after Christmas again- ready for next year!

After a very busy Winter Fair, team Abbeys were feeling festive and we joined the local community supporting the Frank Moran Centre with their Christmas Fair!

As a thank you for making so much tea and coffee, the Frank Moran are donating £250 to the school! We will be using this money to subsidise school trips in the Spring term! Thanks to everyone who came along!

I would like a shout out for all the staff for organising Christmas activities and the children were really good in their Christmas Carol concert.  And a massive thank you for the volunteers who helped out at the Marc's Fair.

I was a bit nervous at the beginning of the school year for Ianis, thinking that he will not settle in, but i must say I wasn't expecting him to like it this MUCH!
Thank you, Mrs Fellowes for creating an environment where our children feel safe, can thrive, learn, and grow. Thank you once again for all your hard work and commitment to the school and its pupils.

Miss Holder would like a SHOUT OUT  to - Thomas, Rocco, Jaden and Mapalo for helping stack chairs after the nativity- without us even asking. They saw Mrs Brown and I doing it and started helping. I think that was so amazing of them.

I know Mrs Ahmed is off at the moment but I would like to give a shout out to Mrs Ahmed for all her help she has given Sean over the last couple of years. The support she has given him has been above and beyond and we are extremely thankful to her- Mrs Hancock

Paige took part in the Christmas performance at her gymnastics club. She performed in two routines one of which included all the gymnasts which meant there were 60 girls performing at the same time.

She did 3 shows in one day.

We are very proud of her!

Well done Paige!

At this time of year it is particularly important to say thank you to all of those people that make school a better place..

We have many people that go above and beyond for our children and they do this simply because they want to. Without these people we wouldn't be able to offer the children the best provision we can.

So THANK YOU to...

All of the PTA- Jo, Claire, Mel, Elena, Vivian, Jenn and Simon.

Our students from the college/ University- Sophia, Jess, Charlotte and Callum,

HAVE TWO WEEKS OFF ON ME!

Mrs Clarke has mugged Mr Harvey and I did spy some rather jazzy Christmas socks in there!

Mrs Clarke has mugged Mr Harvey for being an absolute superstar. This term could've have been really difficult, not only for the children of Woburn Class, but for KS1 as a whole. Mr Harvey has done an amazing job and we are very grateful for all his hard work, to keep things running smoothly and the children happy.

Thank you Mr Harvey!

After Christmas it is all change and we wish Mr Harvey the best of luck in the future.

THANK YOU for looking after Woburn class!

You deserve a rest!

Every time we need a supply teacher, we will be calling on Mr Harvey first! It's been lovely to have you at Abbeys!

At the end of every term, I write a poem for the children.. it has become a little tradition.. so here we go..

Headteacher’s Christmas poem

When you have a school full of kids, it is so hard to pick. Which ones are kind and caring, which ones are witty and quick. So I have asked the teachers to choose them, the ones who deserve an extra treat, the sweetest ones, the nicest ones, the ones that can’t be beat.

Miss Cahill has chosen Noah. He listens so carefully, he remembers all the facts about the evergreen tree!

Mrs Meredith has picked Rowan, he is engaged in everything we teach, with his positive attitude, nothing is out of his reach.

Mrs Rashid has picked Willow for always being so caring, she is kind to others, loves to learn, she’s also great at sharing!

Mrs Ivan has selected Poette, she is well-organised and sweet. She works so hard and doesn’t make a fuss, she makes the class complete.

Miss Christophi nominates Neitas, he’s come such a long way, he sings and claps and joins in so happily with the play.

Miss Craig has chosen Robert, he tries his best at everything, he warms all of our  hearts with his funny ways and his cheeky grin!

Mrs Vicarage hand-picked Zoe, she is always so polite. It is hard to find a kinder pupil, she is simply a delight.

Miss Tierney has chosen Olivia, she's improving every week. Always helping out in class, she doesn’t give us any cheek!

Mr Harvey selected Twatota, he’s worked hard since joining our school.  He always tries his very best, he really is quite cool.

Mrs Clarke has chosen Ethan, he’s steadily improving, he joins in well for phonics and maths, at the nativity he was grooving!

Miss Proctor has picked Chloe, she always has a smile, she’s a pleasure to have in Woburn class, she’s only been here a little while!

Mrs Milne has picked Mia, she has totally embraced her new school, always polite, so eager to learn, she shines bright like a jewel.

Miss O' Flynn has chosen Arielle for being brave and speaking up in class. She’s growing in confidence day by day, and we hope that it will last.

Mrs Naydenova nominated Tristan for helping a pupil in need, he’s kind and considerate, a wonderful friend indeed.

Miss Holder  has chosen Maral who always tries her best, she puts her hand up, even though she’s shy, she puts herself to the test.

Mrs M has selected Mircea, he’s hardworking, respectful and kind, he even laughs at her jokes, a kinder boy you will not find!

Miss Bemrose has picked Tsenguun because she is lovely and sweet, she is nice to everybody, her kindness can’t be beat.

Miss Dewberry  has selected Willow R, she is so kind and caring, she asks us all how we are, that really is quite daring!

Mrs Dunnett’s chosen Tyler Jane for her enthusiasm out in forest school, even though it’s wet and muddy, she still gives her all!

Mr Godfrey  has picked Sydnee, she is pretty cool, bringing a positive attitude and confidence, she’s a role model at this school.

Mrs Brown has picked Aiden, he is so lovely all the time, he displays so much resilience, many mountains, he will climb!

Miss Burton voted for Ronny, he has a heart of gold, he listens well and does his best, he is so brave and bold.

Miss Oakley selected Alexandra for being polite, she always remembers her manners, she knows what’s wrong and right.

Ms Chamberlain has chosen Noah Roberts- but he’s been picked twice! She’s told me to give him two awards for being REEEAAALLLYYY nice!

Mrs Warburton picked Rachel she is a role model for all, she’s so welcoming to everyone an asset to our school!

Miss Sadia nominates Naveena for coming out of her shell, her confidence is blossoming, she is doing really well!

Mrs Pullen picked Daniela she is always kind to everyone, she’s so happy, every day in school, she’s here to enjoy the fun!

Miss Orozco nominated Muhammed from up in year six. He works so hard in Spanish, he never, ever plays tricks!

Mrs Louis White has chosen Connor, that is Connor K,  he’s resilient and hardworking his smile makes her day.

Miss Proctor has picked Tselmuun, she gives 100% to everything, she tries so hard, all of the time, she can even dance and sing!

I never really like to choose but one young man stands out! It’s Ianis in Foundation stage, he doesn’t muck about. He comes to school with a huge smile every single day, so positive and friendly, he’s learning the Abbeys’ way.

All that is left to say is thank you and now it’s time for a rest! Thanks to all the staff and families, you really are the best. I wish you all a very merry Christmas, enjoy some family time, I will be putting my feet up with a large glass of wine!
