What a super term we have had. I am absolutely tired out and I think the children are too.

We have had a busy fortnight since my last newsletter! I hope you enjoy reading the best bits.

After Easter, the lovely Miss Rimmer will be returning from her maternity leave. She will be teaching in Missenden again on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays! We cannot wait to have her back!

As part of British Science Week 2025, our students enthusiastically participated in a poster competition themed 'Change and Adapt'. This theme encouraged them to explore various STEM topics, such as how plants and animals adapt to changing environments, human adaptation to evolving technology, and strategies to combat climate change.

We are delighted to showcase some of the outstanding posters created by our students.

Well done to these winners!

John in Foundation Stage used his sound knowledge to write this sentence and label the parts of the flower!

Well done John!

Students in Westminster worked collaboratively to create this poster.

Well done to  Zakai, Aniyah, Jack, Olivia and Leighton.

A huge well done to Madelyn. This poster, all about penguins, sends a powerful message about climate change!

What a great idea!

Well done to Naveena, this poster, full of fun facts is excellent. I like all the lift-up flaps and information included! You clearly know your stuff!

The children in Woburn and Whitby enjoyed having their end of term camp fire and eating warm pancakes. They were delicious! They also had an Easter egg hunt around forest school.

Congratulations to our KINDEST pupils who have been selected by the team in school for their kindness and friendship towards others. All of these children have won a book from the book trolley!

Well done and thank you to... Willow - in Foundation, Charlie- in Foundation, Bonnie-lyn, Arnav, Amalia, Charlie Fenton, Haajirah, Joey, Junior, Mia and

David G.

At the end of every term, I write a little poem- it has become a bit of a tradition now! All the children mentioned in the poem get a little chocolate treat!

Well done everyone.

We had so many amazing entries for our Easter bonnet and decorated egg competition!

They get better and better each year!

The Mayor Cllr Marie Bradburn came to judge the competition and it was such a tough decision.

In the egg category we had 3 winners.......

MUGGINGS

Mrs Louis White mugged the lovely Catherine our cook!

'Catherine is always so kind. She always appears stress-free and is very helpful. No matter what, she always asks how you are. Your hard work does not go unnoticed Catherine and we are so glad to have you here at Abbeys!'

New Behaviour Policy

After Easter we will be trying something new and have adjusted our behaviour policy. Once finalised a copy will be sent out to you.

What are the main changes?

One significant change is the amendment to Golden Time. From after Easter, children will have TEAM TIME with their classes on a Friday. They will not lose this special time with their class, the focus will be on developing a sense of belonging and team spirit.

Instead of losing Golden time, children will lose their break and lunchtime if they cannot follow the Golden rules. They will miss time socialising on the same day of the incident or the next day. This reduces the anxiety linked to lost golden time on a Friday.

Children that find it hard to follow the Golden rules will miss time outside with friends and potentially go on to school report - this is in three stages.

Praise and rewards will be given in the same way as they are now, however class Pom Pom jars will no longer exist. Emails will be sent home directly to Parents/ Carers as an additional way to reward pupils.

We will see how this new policy works for the children over the Summer term. At the end of the term, we will review things.

Thanks in advance for your support and thanks to those Parents/ Carers who contributed to the policy by providing feedback at every stage.

First meeting of our SEN parent group

We know that being a Parent/Carer is hard! But being a Parent/ Carer of a child with Special Educational needs is even harder. We have created a little group that is meeting once a month in school. The aim of the group is to share experiences and worries and to meet others with similar circumstances.

The group will meet on the first Friday of every month.

Thanks to everyone who came along today.

WISHING YOU A WONDERFUL EASTER HOLIDAY!
