The weeks are speeding by and the last fortnight, since my last newsletter, has been very, very busy.

This is a tricky time of year for many of us. There are big changes imminent and everyone starts to get a little twitchy.

If you have any worries or concerns, please speak to your child's class teacher at the end of the school day or email the office in the first instance.

I have been a very lucky Headteacher, in that, for the last couple of years, the teaching team has remained stable and supported me well in my first years of Headship. Sadly, this year 3 teachers have decided to move on and, whilst I know this is important for their professional development, I am upset to see them go. I wont hold a grudge!

First of all, the lovely Miss Tierney has decided to go travelling around the world with her partner Ollie. I am very jealous about this. But wish them well on their big adventure!

Miss Holder and Miss Migliazza are both moving on to other local schools. We will miss them both dearly, but experiencing a wide range of schools is really important for teacher development and I wish them both the best of luck. I know they'll stay in touch and maybe even come back one day!

I will miss the smiles and the laughs!

The plans for next year are well underway, and we have new class lists ready to go. We will be having a rollover week again for the last 3 days of the school term, where children will spend time with their new teacher. This will mean that their last day in their current class will be Friday 18th July.

I can tell you that we are thrilled that both Miss Henry and Mrs Moir will be staying with us as teachers from September, after they have both successfully completed their teacher training. I can also tell you that the wonderful Miss Ahmed will be returning from maternity leave and rejoining the 3/4 team at the end of September.

Please check out the calendar at the end of the newsletter for key dates regarding transition.

Foundation stage have been learning about under the sea. They have been labelling parts of fish- using real fish! Yucky!

KS1 Lego club have been enjoying building things using different types of Lego. Their Lego challenge last week was to build something that can move. This is what some of the children came up with!

RAF music event- by Year 5

Year 5 got to see the RAF band play lots of different music using instruments such as: drums, keyboard, double bass, trumpet, saxophone and a trombone. There was also a singer. It was lots of fun. I really enjoyed it when they played Seven Nation Army and switched between different styles of music (jazz, samba and reggae).

I loved the RAF music event. It is hard to know specifically what it was that I liked because I liked all of it! - Aiden.

It was really cool to go inside the Civic Council Offices. The hall was big! It was really nice to hear the instruments being played live in front of me as usually you only hear that sort of music online - Daniela.

I really enjoyed the songs that they played and the singing. I got called up to the front to join in helping them switch beats within a song. I had the reggae card and whenever I held the card up, they changed the style of music to reggae. It was great fun. I also enjoyed the biscuits that they gave us during the break! - Iverson.

Years 3 and 4 went to the Discovery Centre at Bradwell Abbey last week. They enjoyed learning all about the Saxons! And the weather was perfect for them.

Zendaya and Tristan always go above and beyond with their pick and mix homework! Look what they made!

I'd like to put forward Aiden for a shutout!

In his first season at Willen Rhinos, he was awarded player's player at his end of season presentation. He joined the team not knowing any of the boys, so to have been awarded this is a testament to not only his footballing ability, but his personality and friendliness too.

Thanks to Aiden's Mum for this SHOUT OUT! A super photo of Aiden barely able to hold all of his awards! I couldn't agree more with this! Well deserved and congratulations!

Bailey has passed his black belt 2nd degree grading. He has one grading left to complete within the junior gradings.

We are very proud of him!

Well done Bailey!  When I asked him if I should be worried, he said not unless I start on him first! That will never happen Bailey!

A super achievement.

Massive shout out for the school photos

They're absolutely lush. Can just imagine how much effort everyone put in getting the children organised and as natural as possible.

Love them! Thank you all!

Can I give a newsletter shout out to my phonics group please? They're working so hard, they're so thoughtful and kind and they're just a pleasure to teach!! They are orange group it's Twatota, Ilyan, Richu, Mia and Lacey.

Well done children! From Miss Proctor.

Maisie's broad bean plant [that she planted at school] is flourishing!

Well done Maisie.

Harrison also won a trophy at football! Well done Harrison!

Dear Mrs Fellowes

Before the hectic mess of the end of term, I just wanted to send an email to let you know how amazing your support staff in Foundation have been this year! Millani speaks so highly of them… especially Mrs Dunnett and Mrs Rashid. They are always on hand to help and support Millani when needed. Mrs Dunnett always goes the extra mile for Millani and myself… especially when she can see it’s been a tough morning and is amazing with actually getting her to do the things I struggle to get her to do before leaving the house. Silly things like putting her hair in a ponytail when it’s too hot as she has refuses to let me do it before school, or making sure she’s not sneaking off to put her fleece back on in the sun. The battles I don’t have time to fight in the morning or have simply run out of energy to do. Mrs Dunnett is willing to step in and get things done. Millani always tells me how kind Mrs Rashid is and how comforting she is when Millani is sad or just needs a little reassurance. She thoroughly enjoys your wrap-around care, she has built a great relationship with Mrs Chamberlain and again speaks so highly of her at home.

You really do have an OUTSTANDING team!

Thank you again for all yourself and your team do!

Mr Ayres mugged these lovely ladies because he has witnessed them go above and beyond for the children at wrap club. He said the kids love wrap club because they both make it so much fun. Always thinking of different and exciting activities for the children to enjoy. And if that isn't enough, since working at Abbeys they have both made him feel incredibly welcome.

Well done to Ms Chamberlain and Miss Oakley! Much deserved!

Mrs Chamberlain and Ms Oakley went on to mug Miss Orozco!

Miss Orozco was mugged for being an excellent member of the team! Always so positive and smiley- she goes above and beyond for the school! I couldn't agree more!

Well done!

IMPORTANT MESSAGES

Gates will close at 8.50am. This is because the register is taken electronically at 8.50am. If your child is not in class for the register, they need to come into the office, and you need to sign them in on the system in the foyer. This will mean they are registered. This is a safeguarding issue and staff in school should not have to face any abuse from parents/ carers for adhering to our safeguarding procedures.

School opens at 8.30am. Please come a little earlier.
