Before you start reading this newsletter. Make sure you have a large cup of tea and put your feet up! You will be here for a while!

A huge thank you from me to all of our families. As usual, you have shown me kindness and support all year and I appreciate that so much. Thanks to each and every member of staff - you have been amazing this year!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Farewell

Today we say farewell to Miss Tierney, Miss Holder and Mrs Migliazza. I know that whatever they go on to do, they'll be amazing! Miss Tierney may even be back one day after her travels.... who knows. So long to Miss Orozco and Mrs Sharp our lovely Teaching Assistants. We wish you all the best.

We also say goodbye to lots of children today. Not only our wonderful year 6 crew, but children throughout the school that are moving or relocating. We wish you all the best and every success in the world.

It is important that each and every one of our pupils know that they will always have a place here with us. Whether they have been here since Foundation or only started a few weeks ago- we won't forget them and if life gets hard- which is probably will- they can always come back and have a chat, we are always here for them.

NEWS

LAPTOPS- A huge thank you to Ian Diamond- Father of Dexter and Owen. Ian has managed to get the school 100 laptops from Network Rail as part of their Laptops for schools program. This will have a huge impact on our provision. Our teaching assistants will be able to support pupils better and students will have better access to programs and information. Thanks so much! It made my year!

PTA- A huge thank you to the PTA who have raised around £5000 for the school this year. The children are very lucky to have such an amazing team organising events and making school life that much more fun. With this money, we would like to purchase some gazebos for future events, a projector for outside and a popcorn machine. We have already met to plan more events for the Autumn term for you all to enjoy! Thank you to you all!

UNIFORM- I have been contemplating changing our school uniform for some time now. I believe that our pupils learn best when they are comfortable. I also believe that as a teacher you want flexibility within the timetable and to be able to learn actively as much as you can. Therefore, from September we would like to make PE kit an option for every day of the week. Not just on PE days. Pupils must wear unbranded black and white as usual, but this more active uniform is also now acceptable every day alongside the other uniform. As usual, if your child comes to school in the incorrect uniform on any day they'll be given the spare, correct uniform from the office.

CLUBS-  From September we will be changing the way that we organise clubs in school. This is because the same children are accessing clubs and we would like to ensure everyone has a chance to attend at least one after-school club.

There will be two rounds of clubs allocations every half-term. The first round all families can choose one club for their child to attend if they wish. If there is any further space parents will be emailed again.

We offer free clubs until 4pm. This is unlike many schools who charge. This is not to be seen as free childcare, but as an opportunity for pupils to take up an extra-curricular activity they would like to learn. Therefore, please do not enrol your child in a club they are not interested in.

Remember if you need childcare we have Wrap-around care until 4pm,5pm and 6pm and it can all be booked on Parentpay.

SWIMMING- Don't forget the swimming pool will be back in September and all pupils are expected to attend their statutory swimming lessons. These are part of the National curriculum. This year we have prepared an indoor changing facility for the girls to use and the boys will use the area within the pool marquee. All children will need a swimming hat and the girls will need a one piece costume.

Additional lessons to these are available after school and are optional- please visit www.sportyscholars.com/swim

Swimming replaces forest school for the first 3 weeks of the academic year.

The whole school is GREEN. Well done to the green team for a great victory on Sports Day! Another of my favourite days in school and every year, it just gets better and better. Well done to Mr Godfrey and Mrs Dunnett- What a team!

This week the children have been in their new classes. This helps them familiarise themselves with their new teacher before the long summer holidays and helps reduce anxiety.

I hope that they have enjoyed this special time with their new classmates.

HEADTEACHER'S END OF YEAR POEM

We were so lucky to have a fantastic leavers performance this week. The Greatest Show was performed twice by our lovely year 6's and it was fantastic both times. Well done to Andrei- he learnt so many lines! The singing was fabulous and I am sure we'll be seeing some of you on the stage in the future.
