We are all settled, and the term is in full swing. It is sad to see that the swimming pool has gone, but also wonderful to see that the children are back out enjoying Forest School with Mrs Dunnett.

As it is starting to get a little cooler, it is important that your child is prepared for all weather. They will need a raincoat, jumper and wellies in school.

We have some wonderful news for you. The lovely Mrs Warburton and Miss Laura Proctor are both expecting babies in February! Congratulations to you both! We are so pleased for you! One is having a girl and one is having a boy.

But can we guess who?

Beaulieu class- we do not know who will be teaching you as yet but we are working on it and I will write to families as soon as I can.

It was lovely to hear from Miss Kelly Proctor this week. We hope that she will be back after half-term at some point. But she is doing really well after her knee operation! A super patient.

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to give you all a quick update. Recovery from my surgery is going well. Lots of my days are spent like this with my leg up wearing an ice pack. I am doing as I’m told, resting, icing and exercising my knee. I’m not very good at sitting still but I am trying my best, keeping myself busy with puzzles and watching the tv. Daytime telly really is rubbish, thank goodness for Netflix! I would much rather be in the classroom.
I am missing you all so much and hope to pop in and visit you all very soon.

Take Care
Love From
Miss Proctor x

A huge SHOUTOUT out to Mrs Hakim Ali. Mrs Hakim Ali works for Tesco, and she always manages to donate plenty of school uniform for our uniform exchange.

Thank you for thinking of us!

If you need anything, please pop into the office!

Forest school is back in full swing and a little birdie told me the children have been enjoying hotdogs around the campfire!

What a lovely thing for the children to experience!

At the end of the Summer term, we received a fantastic donation of 100 laptops from Network Rail.

A huge thank you to Mr Diamond for nominating Abbeys to receive them. This will have a huge impact for the school.

The children are already logging in and exploring new apps and online resources.

In Tintern and Turvey the children have been learning about the features of houses and different types of homes in the UK and around the world. The children have explored making houses inside and outside in provision to develop their learning further.

In Woburn this week, the children have been learning to sew using a running stitch. Here are their wonderful butterfly cushions!

Some of the children in Westminster have been super busy completing their pick a mix homework for their topic all about Minibeasts! Look at their creations.

Melrose had their very first Forest School session of the year and it was a huge success! The children embraced the outdoors with energy and enthusiasm, learning how to safely start fires for cooking food, experimenting in the mud kitchen, and working together to build dens.

It was wonderful to see their curiosity, creativity, and confidence grow throughout the afternoon.

Well done to Bradwell. They have been learning how to make working circuits in science. They worked in teams to create a circuit to light the bulb! Well done everyone!

Ah! Well done to Fae in Foundation. She was so brave last week as she had to spend a few nights in hospital feeling poorly! We are very proud of her and we are so glad to have her back in school safe and sound.

I’d like to give a shout-out to my daughter, Joanna.

She recently achieved her blue belt in karate, and she was so happy and proud of herself. She worked very hard for it and showed great dedication and confidence.

This is amazing Joanna – congratulations! Hard work pays off!

A huge congratulations to Muqrin Siddiqui of Whitby, who passed stage 2 swimming last week at Bletchley Leisure centre. This is great news- well done Muqrin!

IMPORTANT

Many parents and carers approach me to discuss fines for term-time holidays. Unfortunately, if a holiday has been taken during term time, there is nothing I can do to support an appeal against the fine.

The changes outlined below explain, as simply as possible, how the law has changed since August 2024. Please note that I have no control or discretion over these regulations. Authorised absences are now limited to exceptional circumstances, such as up to two days for weddings or funerals.

We are aware that some families choose to take holidays during term time and then report their child as unwell to avoid fines. Please be aware that, in such cases, we may request evidence of your holiday booking. We cannot condone this practice. While we all understand the appeal of a term-time holiday, it is important that we do not put children in a position where they feel pressured to be untruthful about their absence/ health- this is not the sort of relationship we want to have with our pupils.

Year 6 LEAVERS hoodies.

If you are a year 6 family and you would like to purchase this year's leavers hoody please use the link below!

https://www.leavershoodies.com/abbeys-primary-school-2026-leavers

We are one of the only MK schools that teach a Mental health and wellbeing curriculum. We designed this ourselves from Foundation to year 6. This includes a focus on managing your feelings and emotions and knowing who to talk to when things get hard. This makes our school community kinder and more nurturing towards one another. Even our youngest children demonstrate empathy and understanding towards their peers when they are upset or worried.

PARENTS' EVENING AND BOOK FAIR

Parents' evening is fast approaching on the 21st and 22nd of October.

Please follow the link that you will be sent at some point today- you may already have it!

Mrs Louis White (SENCO) and myself are available on both nights- you do not need an appointment. If you would like to see us we will be around the office area, please pop in.

At parents 'evening there will be a book fair in the main hall. If you can, please pop along and purchase a book. Some of the money raised will be spent on new books for our library!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
