Welcome back. I hope that everyone enjoyed the half-term break and are ready for a very busy half-term on the roll down to Christmas.

This is a very busy half term, I know that the calendar is full. Please ensure you have all the key dates in your diary so that you don't miss out.

I am becoming increasingly worried about parking and driving around school. Over the past week alone, 3 incidents have been reported to me.

Bletchley council have proposed a no waiting or stopping zone outside the school. In my view, this will push more traffic down towards the Frank Moran Centre and Tesco. This would be even more challenging to manage and potentially dangerous for pupils. The consultation has now closed, and I will update you when I can.

I have asked why Melrose Avenue cannot be made 20 mph – like other roads outside of schools. I have asked for speed bumps and a crossing. I feel that I am doing everything I can to raise concerns about this road, the hazards, blind spots and risks to pedestrians.

If you can report any issues you have witnessed, that would help raise awareness of the area.

As incidents occur outside the school grounds where I may not witness them, it is not appropriate for me to become involved. However, as always, safeguarding concerns should be referred to me and I will work with families to resolve issues if possible.

You may have noticed that the old brick wall down by the main entrance gate has been removed and replaced with appropriate fencing. I think you will agree that it looks much nicer!

We also have a nice new shed to store our assembly chairs! Thanks to Miss Gregory and the parents- who volunteered their time in the rain during half-term! Also thanks to the Parish Council and Mick Legg for donating the school the funds for the additional storage.

Our curriculum newsletters have all been sent out and by now you will know what your child is learning about this term.

In Foundation the children have been learning all about celebrations and festivals.

In KS1, the children are learning about the Great Fire of London- one of my favourite topics!

In year 3/4 it is all about Volcanoes and in particulaar Pompeii and up in years 5/6 the children are focusing on rainforests!

We have lots of trips and visits planned to support our learning this term. If you can, please complete the Pick a Mix homework tasks! But reading and maths are the priorities!

Foundation have been enjoying their outdoor activities during choosing time this week. We have been painting pumpkins inspired by Yayoi Kusama and mixing different ingredients into potions after exploring our first drawing club story "Room on the Broom".

Woburn class would like to celebrate the children's handwriting, using the new handwriting scheme from Ruth Miskin. The Year 1 children have been looking at forming the letter q this week and the Year 2 children have been focusing on joining the letter i. Look at this beautiful handwriting! Well done children!

The children in Missenden have been working on poetry this week in English and have been delving into question and answer poems! They have been very enthusiastic and came up with some brilliant work.

Our pupils had a fantastic opportunity to visit Chemetall Ltd for a chemistry-themed science trip. The visit focused on how materials are tested to determine whether they are destructive or non-destructive. During the visit, the children took part in three exciting activities:

  • Microscope investigation: Pupils zoomed in on samples up to one million times magnification and used 3D glasses to explore their structures in detail.

  • Fluorescent light testing: They discovered how fluorescent light can reveal cracks in aircraft parts that are invisible to the naked eye.

  • pH experiments: Pupils tested the pH levels of different solutions and experimented with mixing them to create neutral solutions.

It was a hands-on, inspiring day that brought real-world science to life!

You will have received correspondence about our morning bus to school. Initially, the bus will run throughout the winter months, helping children get to school safely and on time. Booking forms are in the office.

I would like a SHOUT OUT to Frenchie. It is great to see how happy she makes the kids, especially if they share the same birthday!

Thank you to, Mrs Ayres and Mrs Wright for being super friendly and always happy to help! They are always happy to answer my questions and they greet everyone with lovely smiles! Thank you both!

Everyday, Eduard asks excitedly when he’ll have forest day. He loves it! He also proudly tells me about the sound he learns at school each day.

Lucas is so excited that he’s reached over level 40 on Mental Mathletes. We are so proud of them!

We are very proud of Bailey for completing his martial arts belts! He's a proud black belt owner! Well done Bailey!

Bailey is now pursuing his favourite sport... Football! He recently joined Shenley FC, Aka The Coyotes, and scored his first goal in his first full match last Saturday- SUPER WORK!

Shout out for Mrs Clarke

She has been an absolutely fantastic teacher to Imaana, because of all the hard work she puts in with her students and her kind nature Imaana is thriving and loves school, you can see how passionate she is about teaching and it has a positive impact on those lucky enough to be in her class!

SHOUT OUT to John!

We have just counted up all of the books which we've recorded in John's reading record since he started Year 1. I'm happy to report that he has just read his 39th book!

This is amazing!

STAFFING NEWS

I am so pleased to tell you that Miss Tierney will be covering in Beaulieu class when Mrs Warburton goes on her maternity leave. Miss Tierney still has big dreams to go off travelling but will stay with us until the end of the summer term. We love having her around.

Mr Gilbert will be covering Miss Proctor's maternity leave in KS1. Mr Gilbert already knows the children in school, from his work as a lunchtime supervisor and at Wrap club. I am sure he will love it!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
