The half-term has flown by and everyone is ready for a week off school. The children have been working really hard over the past few weeks and everyone [including myself and the staff] are shattered. I cannot believe we are half-way through the school year! I hope you have a wonderful half-term. We are straight back into school on Monday 23rd February.

See you then!

Foundation stage have been making bread to embed their learning about produce that comes from the farm.

Melrose class had a visit from our new school Toroise Sheldon.

I must say Miss Henry was not that keen!

In Melrose, they have been learning about circuits in Science and exploring how electricity works. As part of their learning, they investigated the different components needed to make a circuit and even built some of their own. This opened up the opportunity to research the history of electricity, including finding out who invented the filament in the light bulb. They discovered how inventors such as Thomas Edison and Lewis Howard Latimer played an important role in developing the light bulb, which made their learning even more interesting and meaningful.

Year 3/4 have been very busy this week! They have been making Twelfth Night cakes as part of their topic about Henry the VIII.

'A delicious end to our Tudor topic! Baking like it’s 1599! The class worked brilliantly in teams to follow Tudor recipes for our Twelfth Night celebration. It’s been a fantastic way to bring historical traditions to life (and the classroom smelt amazing!)' Mrs Ahmed.

Missenden have stepped back in time this week! To support their Tudor topic, the children have been exploring traditional court dances in PE. They’ve shown great rhythm and teamwork while learning about the social history of the era.

As part of their home learning, year 5/6 made a Victoria sponge cake!

Here is Harmony's scrumptious cake.

Well done Harmony!

In Year 5/6 we have been learning about William Morris and his nature-inspired designs. The children have been creating their own pictures using a block image, they painted onto polystyrene and then printed their pictures into their books.

As part of Children's mental health week, the children in Bradwell have been thinking about Belonging. They have considered what makes them part of a team and created a montage of themselves as individuals as a community.

A Shout-out to Mrs Sadia! 'We just really appreciate how she recognises and encourages the potential in Bonnie and gives her guidance with mutual respect and honesty. We really appreciate the role model she has been to her and the way she protects her education and wellbeing by keeping her engaged and motivating her to believe in herself and her abilities and integrity.'

'A great thanks to Mrs Brown for supporting Pride in Maths and a remarkable achievement has been noted. Thanks a lot!

We had a wonderful time at Parents' evening last night'

Mrs Ayres has mugged Mrs Dunnett, because although she is responsible for Mrs Ayres' increase in washing due to muddy clothes from Forest school, she appreciates her proactive ways to support the children, easy-going attitude and for making her laugh!

Well done Mrs Dunnett!

We couldn't agree more.

Parental partnership is vital to our school community.

We know that when parents and school work together, children achieve better outcomes academically and socially, and behaviour across the school is stronger. Recently, however, we have seen a decline in the level of support we are receiving from some families.

We are particularly concerned about situations where children are being encouraged to respond physically if they are hurt, rather than seeking help from a trusted adult in school. We want to reassure families that our staff are always here to listen, support, and resolve issues safely. Always encourage your children to follow the Golden Rules.

We have also noticed that some pupils are not being supported with reading or maths at home, often because it can feel challenging or lead to disagreements. While we understand these difficulties, regular encouragement and practice at home make a significant difference to children’s confidence, progress, and future opportunities.

We kindly ask all parents and carers to continue to work in partnership with us by promoting positive behaviour, encouraging children to talk to adults when problems arise, and supporting learning at home wherever possible - we all need to have high aspirations for our children. Together, we can ensure every child feels safe, supported, and encouraged to achieve their very best.

Our wonderful friends in Daisychain have a lot going on over half-term!

Why not pop in and see Lisa, Nyree and the team- they have a lot on offer for the whole family!
