Welcome to the Summer term! The Easter holidays feel like a very long time ago- I hope everyone had a lovely break. We have been very busy in school starting our new topics, going on trips and visits and preparing for our statutory assessments.

You will have received your child's curriculum newsletter and pick a mix homework. Please support them with this and reading at home daily!

I can only apologise on behalf of Dolce for the muddle with lunch orders this week. An issue with the School Grid system has meant that every night around 7pm lunch orders are all cancelled.

This is still being investigated and should be fixed by Monday.

Thanks for your patience.

I am thrilled that band 'The Childish' are coming in to sing for years 3,4,5 and 6 next Friday. Their initiative to raise money for bleedkits to be placed around the city is amazing. Their song 'This has got to stop' went to number 1 in the ITunes chart and number 25 in the UK top 40 a few weeks ago.

They are a local family, speaking up about life in Mk and the dangers of knife crime and gang culture. They rap, dance and even do back flips-  we are in for a real treat.

We are asking for a minimum of £1 donation per child payable on Parentpay, which will be donated to their cause.

They will be singing other songs for us, including 'Where is the love' by the Black-eyed Peas, one of my favourites.

Hopefully they will inspire our pupils who like to sing and dance!

The content of this event is age appropriate. However, should you wish to opt your child out of this event you must email me directly jfellowes@abbeysprimary.org

Whitby have started our new writing scheme- ' I am a clever writer' They have gone back to basics with their handwriting really focusing on letter formation and joining! Look at this beautiful writing! Well done Whitby!

As a cross-curricular link, Marham have been completing English activities focussed on The Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura. This included using text maps to retell the story orally.

Missenden enjoyed trying a blow painting technique in Art this week. The children tried to replicate what was used by people in the Stone Age!

It got a bit messy, but was fun!

This week in Woburn's Maths, we begun our fractions topic. The children have enjoyed learning about the fraction half. We used mirrors to check that each part was equal and matched each one.

Melrose's Science topic is based on the life cycle of an animal. They have made posters categorising the diet of animals that live on earth today based on what they eat. They learnt the vocabulary: Herbivore, Carnivore and Omnivore.

SHOUT OUT TO CHARLIE!

Over the last 2 weeks, he's attended 2 nationwide competitions and has won 5 medals.

Fingers crossed for him as he travels to Harrogate for his 1st dan black belt grading this weekend.

Shout out to Mrs Clarke and Miss Bishop for being amazing teachers every single day — your hard work and kindness don’t go unnoticed.

Ianis really appreciates you both!

Both John and Jack made it to the top of the climbing wall with no fear of heights!

Well done boys! This looks tiring to me!

Shout out to Stanley. He learnt to ride his bike over the Easter break. He has improved so much and is getting more and more confident. We are so proud of him. He hopes to ride it to school one day.

Great work Stanley!

A huge thank you and well done for the recent KS1 school trip to the museum.

Our child absolutely loved it and is still talking about all the different phones!

What a great day out!

I would love to give a shout out to my son Abel in Turvey class. He is really enjoying school and coming home happy every day.

Thank you to all the teachers for creating such a warm and supportive environment.
