The Role of the Governing Board
All schools have a team of Governors who are mix of Parent, Local Education Authority, Community and Staff Governors. They are all volunteers who bring a wide variety of skills and experience to the team. They are led by the Chair of Governors, Sid Hewitt, in partnership with the Headteacher, Sophie Good.
The Governing Body has a legal strategic responsibility for the efficient running and wellbeing of the school. They work alongside the Headteacher and the staff to monitor strategic aspects of the school.
The Governors meet at least once each term as a full Governing Body. There are also sub committees that focus on key aspects of the school including Leadership and Management and Curriculum. The Governors also undertake regular visits to the school to monitor priorities focused upon the School Improvement Plan, we undertake training when needed, and meet with all staff and children.
Along with all staff, the Governors are committed to building a positive future at Abbeys where provision is outstanding. The school has a continuous focus on School Improvement of which all parents/carers are invited to contribute towards.
The current Governing Body are working with all staff, children and parents/carers and have a clear vision for Abbeys. The Governors and Staff would welcome the opportunity to meet and work with all Parents/Carers more as their view and ideas are just as valid as ours and the partnership is needed to ensure we are the best.
We are really keen to hear from our parents/carers and if you would like to discuss anything with us, please don't hesitate to email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone and leave a message with school and we will contact you directly.
